Burn
[statistics]
After joining the Cult, Burn sincerely believed that the pain the Decayers brought with them was necessary for the world to be cleansed in fire. At least, this is what he thought until the first Invasion. After seeing the consequences of the massacre, he began to realize that the Glorious Blind and his flock were not going to save anyone. They were willing to sacrifice anyone to satisfy their own vanity, be they survivors or even brothers. They aspired to power and reveled in violence, bringing more and more victims to the Crater. The Decayers did not bring purification - they led the world to an even greater collapse. Burn couldn't take this path.
At first, he tried to talk to his brothers - to convince them that the light of the Plant should be used to save lost souls. But they didn't listen to him. The Glorious Blind's flock began to treat him with hostility. Burn realized how few of the Brothers shared his views. Doubts still gnawed at Burn's soul... He decided to put himself to the test - to go to the Plant and learn the True Faith at the source of the Crater's power. Burn left the Crematorium and never returned. It is unknown whether he got to the Nuclear Power Plant, but since then, he has worn a rusty, inconspicious nut on a string, which he guards as if it were the most sacred object. |
Brother Gleam
[statistics]
"Brothers! Look around! What has the Council of the Glorious Blind become? There is no savlation through suffering, don't you see? There is only suffering. What has the Shining rendered you? Only burns. What has the Crater rendered you? The power to turn our enemies to ashes? And what enemies has the Glorious Blind shown us? The common people, whose only fault is that they know not the Faith? They are miserable, tormented by the Charred, Wolves, and bandits. And what do we do, who who have descended from them, are their flesh and blood? Do we protect them, I ask you? Teach them? No! We drive them to salvery. We burn their homes. We burn those who have the courage in their souls to resist us.
So tell me, brothers, where is the sin that the Conflagration should have purged from this world? Is it not in our hands? is it not in our hearts, thirsty for power? To your souls, I pray: wake up! When Brother Flame refused to execute the innocent, we were deaf to his righteous words. When the Vicar Scrch revolted against the Blind, we were foolish and deemed him a heretic like the Cardinals. But tell me, what have we done to save the lost since then? Do you not see even now that the slander leveled against Vicar Scorch and Brother Flame is only a sign of their righteousness? Let my words rest in your hearts, brothers. I will go to the Territories, doing what I must. You may try to stop me or curse me. I will save as many as I can." From Brother Gleam's last words to the Decayers in one of the Crypts. |
Vicar Dawn
[statistics]
Of all the Children of Decay, the most faithful to the Crater and the Plant was Vicar Scorch, who would later go by another name. When he joined the Cult shortly after the Conflagration, he was one of the first to receive the Plant's blessing. The Vicar took part in the Invasion and saw how many survivors died needlessly. He felt that the Blind required too many sacrifices and that far more of the lost could be converted to the Cult and share in the power of the Crater. But in the Crematorium, such thoughts were considered blasphemy against the True Faith. No one was to question the Word of the Blind. When they declared him a heretic, the Vicar called the Blind a tyrant who had defiled the blessing given to him. He killed the Torches sent after him and blazed a path from the Crematorium, taking with him the rescued captives he had healed with the power of the Crater. These people, his new flock, christened him Vicar Dawn.
