Martia the Viper
[statistics]
Martia was brought to the Tomb as a child. She was weak, so she was destined to become an offering to the Great Serpent. But one of the Bokor stood up for her - a servant of Loa Erzulie who was respected by the Coven. He cured the girl, and she soon passed the rite of submission, joining the ranks of the Damballah's servants.
Her adoptive father taught Martia the art of making dangerous compounds and poisons that cause instant death. And the girl mastered this difficult craft perfectly. For her destructive experminental compounds, she received the nickname "Viper." Martia and her father were revered in Hunfor, and yet the Coven was wary of them, as they believed that they were not of the True Faith. Her father raised Martia with the firm belief that these mixtures they made should only be used to protect the Tomb. Growing up, the girl began to openly speak out against blood sacrifices and raids on survivors' settlements. As a result, the Coven decided to get rid of undesirables. Bokor gave his life to protect Martia, and she escaped from the Tomb, vowing revenge on the Coven. |
Bride Harpy
[statistics]
Harpy's parents came to Hunfor themselves. In order to survive, they agreed to give up their daughter to be raised by Legba's servants. Harpy never saw them again. The girl grew up, never leaving the Tomb. During one of the rituals in the sanctuary, the Great Damballah gave her his blessing. Then Samedi Valets took over Harpy's training. She was raised as a warrior and was taught that only the Loa could control the destinies of mortals.
But the wayward girl doubted the Loas' justice. She saw what powers Damballah gave to his devoted servants, whilst also stripping them of their humanity, condemming them to terrible torment. She wanted to make her own decisions without listening to the Houngans and Mambos. She saw how other survivors lived when she participated in the raids, which created more and more turmoil in her soul. Soon, Harpy was announced as a future Serpent's Bride. However, she was not the only contender. One of her rivals decided to prevent Harpy from joining the Coven, and so she told the future Bride the truth: Harpy gained her powers after her parents were sacrificed to Damballah. Hearing this, Harpy was enraged. She demanded an explanation from Mambo Asogwe. Angered by the girl's insolence, she ordered her capture. But Harpy escaped her guardian and left Hunfor. |

Inspiring terror in survivors, the sisters were treated as future Serpent's Brides. But fate is fickle, and the great Samedi Loa rejected them. During one of their raids, Laveau's sister was killed.
